Sourcer Search lets you find candidates who aren't already in your ATS — passively looking, currently employed elsewhere, or simply not applying to your roles yet.

Opening Sourcer#

Click Sourcer → Search in the main navigation. The search page has a filter panel on the left and a results grid on the right.

First-time users may be prompted to accept terms covering the sourcing data provider before running their first query.

Combine filters to narrow results. Available filters typically include:

  • Skills — Specific technologies, languages, or disciplines.
  • Location — City, region, country, or "remote".
  • Seniority — IC levels, management levels, or years of experience bands.
  • Current company — Match or exclude specific employers.
  • Experience range — Total years of work history.
  • Industry — Based on current or past employers.

Start narrow. Broad queries return too many low-signal matches; iterating with tighter filters almost always produces better results than paging through a huge list.

Preview vs. full profile#

Results show a card per candidate with basic info (name, current role, location, top skills). Opening a candidate's full profile reveals their complete work history, skills, and education.

Opening a full profile costs 1 credit per preview. Cards you haven't opened are free. See Billing and Plans.

Enrichment#

Profiles you've previewed include employment history and links (LinkedIn, etc.) but not verified contact info. To get a candidate's email and phone, click Enrich.

Enrichment costs 5 credits per candidate. Once enriched, the verified contact info is attached to the candidate's profile and re-used anywhere else in Elly — no need to re-enrich the same person.

Adding candidates to jobs or campaigns#

From the results grid or from an open profile:

  • Add to job — Places the candidate into a specific stage of a specific job's pipeline. Useful when you know this person fits an active role.
  • Add to campaign — Enrolls the candidate in an existing outreach campaign (see Campaigns). Useful for batched outreach.

Both actions support multi-select from the results grid — check multiple candidates and apply the action once.

The Free-plan limit applies to creating new searches, not rerunning saved ones. If you've hit the cap, you can still work with your existing searches from Search History, but you won't be able to start new queries until you upgrade.

Tips for better results#

  • Start narrow. Add filters until the result count is in the low hundreds, not thousands.
  • Use skill clusters, not single skills. "React + TypeScript + product work" is a more useful query than just "React".
  • Exclude your current employer. Avoids wasted credits on teammates.
  • Save searches you want to revisit. Running the same search weekly catches people who newly match your criteria — see Search History.
